Pimsleur Comprehensive Level 1 (Lessons 1-30)

What Will It Teach Me?

In the Pimsleur Comprehensive Level 1 course, you will learn to form grammatically correct sentences pertaining to the most common life, business and travel situations including:

• greeting others
• days of the week
• asking for directions
• eating & drinking, going to a restaurant
• making plans & telling time
• negotiating purchases and dealing with money, numbers and counting
• talking about your family and asking others about their families
• socializing with colleagues and friends
• asking someone out on a date
• general work and business discussions.
• You will learn to express yourself mainly in the present tense and you will be introduced to the past tense toward the end.

How Much Will I Learn?

Upon completion of the Pimsleur Comprehensive Level I Program (30 lessons), the learner will have achieved spoken-language communication skills at the Intermediate-Low Level.

This level is characterized by the ability to:

• participate in simple, direct conversations on every day topics, in everyday situations
• ability to satisfy immediate needs, such as ordering food and making simple purchases
• ability to establish rapport with strangers in a foreign country.
